Why are you here?

Okay, So we've all had that discussion before. We've pondered the meaning of life and watched the Monty Python movie, bought the popcorn and got the T-shirt, and such. I'm not talking about that directly.

​I woke this morning to a crazy email and three text messages with more syllables than anyone should take prior to a good morning kiss and a strong cup of coffee. "The outside world is breaking in again." was my second thought. My first was one of zero to 1,000,000 MPH in 1/36th of a second.

​Now, I sit here and look out my window. I've taken three walks with Bentley the dog, drove the long-way-around to check out my listings, listened to some music to chill my heart beat. Outside my window I see a peek-a-boo view of the 9th fairway. A friend of mine is out there and trying to impersonate a back hoe. His golf ball is working well to help him do so. I'm reminded of why I am here.

​The outside world with its outside optional brain damage can remain outside. I choose to be here and that's much better for me than not having a choice. The hill affords me a chance to make that choice an easy one.

I am here because I want to be. Not because I have to be.

​I sit here and breathe knowing there is nowhere I'd rather be than here with those I love in a community that is alive and well, as a good friend reminds me regularly, "with good vibes only."
